Can’t Face That Door
from the musical, GIVE ME A BREAK
by Laurie Windham and Barbara McMillen
Something’s clawing, something’s drawing me away
A feeling’s gnawing, a voice is calling ‘don’t stay’
I realize I have so much to learn
I need some direction which way should I turn
I'm lost, I just can’t face, just can’t face that door.
The time I'm Losing, the life I've been choosing is wrong
Would I be a fool to go back to school and say so long
Not knowing what step to take
Afraid I will make a stupid mistake
I’m stuck, I just can’t face, just can’t face that door
Baby, hold me, love me, want me,
These times are special, let’s don’t forget
Squeeze me, tease me, please me, understand me
Can I cross that threshold with no regret
I always act tough but is that really enough to survive
I'm an ambitious girl who wants to say to the world, I've arrived
But then l think of our days gone by
Those sweet memories still brings tears to my eyes
And I just can’t face, just can’t face that door.
And when I think of our days gone by
I see no future for us, no matter how hard I try
And so I've got to face, Oh no, I just can’t face,
Oh yes, I have to face, |
Oh god, I just can’t face that door.
